Instructions for Formal Lab Report
The formal report is for Experiment #6 Sintering of Ceramics. The style of the report is based
on the type of “Engineering Report”, a professional engineer would have to complete in a
working environment. The report should be typed and consist of:
i. A Title page
ii. An Abstract that summarizes the aims and results of the experiment
iii. A Table of Contents
iv. An Introduction that briefly introduces the concept of sintering, discusses its importance in
materials processing and clearly states the aims of the experiment.
v. A Background section that briefly discusses
a. Sintering in general
b. Sintering types Mechanism of sintering
c. Mechanisms of sintering (for different types)
d. Comparison of pressureless and pressured (HP, HIP, SPS, etc.) sintering methods.
vi. An Experimental Procedure section that carefully summarizes the methods you used, the
material(s) you studied and the apparatus you used. Did you run into problems in performing
an experiment? How were they overcome?
vii. A Results and Discussion section. Discuss what you expected and what you obtained.
Explain the graphs given to you.
viii. Conclusions-A brief synopsis of your results. Make sure they are not too speculative.
ix. References (American Ceramic Society Style, complete citation)
x. Appendix-raw data, calculations, etc., i.e., items that may be of interest, but not always
necessary (usually make reading report difficult).
The nature of working in groups implies that there should be cooperation and discussion
between members of the group and the lab instructor. It is, however, expected that when
students prepare their reports, that they do so individually using their own words and
interpretation. Plagiarizing or blatant copying of a report or reference will result in an
automatic zero for that lab for the first offense. A second offense will result in an automatic FF
grade for the course.
Reports will be on both hard and digital copy, which you will send to
xxx@ by mail. Students are responsible to submit the hard copy
reports to the corresponding lab instructor’s box on the same day until 13.00 a week after the
experiment. The lab instructor will grade the reports within a week and will post the results. If
you wish to discuss the grade, make an appointment to see the lab instructor at his/her
convenience. A copy of the graded reports will be handed to you upon your request if needed.

deneyi yapmadan bu raporu nasıl yazmanızı bekliyorlarmış? hazır örneklere bak bari hocam fikir edinmen açısından. kumpas.org'a bak istersen bir. şimdi yatacağım eğer işin acele değilse yarın bakabiliriz tekrardan
bende o yüzden sormak istedim deney yapmadan rapor yazmamız istenildi ve formal olacak denildi vize yerine gecicekmiş anlamadım bende olayı birseyde söylemiyorlar.

ne yaptın yazabildin mi raporu? dün gece çok uykum vardı detaylı yazamadım da burada 10. maddeye kadar sorun yok zaten. sinterlemeyi anlat, sinterleme çeşitlerini anlat, mekanizmalarını anlat, karşılaştır falan demiş. bunları kitabından bulabilirsin bence. en kötü ihtimalle internette zaten bunlar vardır. ama 10. kısımda hesaplamaları falan istemiş, deneyi yapmadan hesaplama konusu biraz sıkıntı. onu hazır bulmaktan başka çaren yok gibi
