Hi there!
The creative online world changes pretty fast, but, luckily for you, weve got you covered with the latest news!
YouTube has clarified the rules around content and monetization, which are being implemented to safeguard advertising and create an overall safer environment for you and your subscribers.
To achieve this, the platform is further tightening monetization for channels: It will be putting all channels through an automated review, after which the channel will be either cleared for monetization or suspended from YPP and so demonetized.
What does this mean for you?
Well, if you are using YouTube within their guidelines then you have nothing to worry about:
Are you giving makeup tips, playing Fortnite, or sharing your daily life? All good! Youre out of trouble.
However, YouTubers posting content ripped off from other creators, uploading copyrighted content, using keyword stuffing, or abusing the platform and its channels will encounter some trouble.
What is next?
YouTube has been scanning all videos, looking for content that does not follow their community and/or copyright guidelines. You can read the up to date guidelines here.
If a channel is found to have multiple violations of the guidelines, it will either be suspended or terminated, depending on how severe YouTube finds the violations.
Afterwards, there will be an appeal process where this decision might be questioned.
In any case, we will be contacting the channels that are affected and letting them know the necessary steps we will be taking.
Should this happen to you, and you think youve been unfairly demonetized by YouTube, please reach out to us by raising a ticket here and well do our best to help you out!
What can you do to avoid demonetization?
Firstly, read the guidelines and make sure your content fits within them.
Secondly, review your videos: If there are any that you think could be problematic, then turn off monetization for those videos.
We are closely collaborating with YouTube and all our YouTubers in order to create a safer creative environment for all of you, so we can keep daring, sharing and caring all together!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
