Earnings.
Beginning in early January, you will need to submit newly-uploaded videos through a process called monetization review. This review is performed by YouTube, and will determine if your content is in compliance with YouTubes current terms of use and copyright standards. Once your content has been submitted, the approval process usually takes between a few hours to a few days.
Weve included a how-to guide at the end of this email, which contains our suggested practices. Simply follow the guide, and you should not see any interruption in your earnings.
Were also extremely happy to hear that YouTube is making earnings transparency mandatory across all networks. As the first network to offer this information to all of its creators, well continue to provide access to both your YouTube estimated earnings and income earned through participation in other Maker initiatives.
Content ID.
On Monday (12/9), YouTube will update how Content ID scans for infringing content. This YouTube initiative could affect channels who have content they believe is infringing, but hasn't been "caught yet. As you already know, using videos without permission (re-uploads, clips from movies/television shows, etc.) is already not permitted on YouTube. This change is simply a more reliable way for YouTube to keep track and protect its partners. If you feel strongly that your content is 100% yours, you have nothing to worry about.
Because this is a change being performed by YouTube that could affect you, Maker will have additional personnel on hand Monday to assist with copyright issues. If you see a claim on your channel that you believe is in error, please reach out to us right away via Maker Max. Maker is in close contact with YouTube during this transition and we will do everything we can to support you.
Let's Talk.
Your Contract with Maker: YouTube is introducing a module which lets you send us feedback regarding the status of your partnership. Some people are calling this the "unpartner button. Maker does not use this feature for communication about its contracts and this button is not a legal notice. If you have questions about your contractual relationship with us, please continue to contact us as you usually do.
Copyright: As always, its your responsibility to only upload content that you own 100% of the rights to. Do not use footage from other sources including TV, movies, trailers, music videos, etc.
Conclusion.
Weve got a couple exciting partnership announcements in the next couple of weeks (hint: education AND promotion opportunities!), as well as guides for how to optimize your channel & uploads during the holiday season. Were glad youre part of the family, and we look forward to growing together!
